Rocket Explodes With Indian Satellite After Launch

A rocket carrying a Indian communications satellite exploded shortly after take-off on Saturday and is the second failure to launch by space agency in India this year.

Television footage showed the rocket exploded in the early stages after launch from the Sriharikota space center in Andhra Pradesh. The Rocket was carrying a communications satellite into orbit GSAT-5P.

The vehicle developed a snag and lost 47 seconds after the launch command, which increases the angle of flight, K. Radhakrishnan, the chairman of Indian Space Research Organization said. "This caused an increase in stress fracture of the vehicle," Radhakrishnan told reporters.

In April launched like a rocket, the flight development in the Bay of Bengal. ISRO said the house turbine rotor seized and broken, probably due to high pressure and thermal stresses.

Yashpal, a retired scientist of the Indian Space Research Organization, an independent analyst, said he was very disappointed with Saturday's fiasco, but other countries also experienced such problems."I hope this is just one of those things," said Yashpal, told reporters.

India is planning its first manned space flight in 2016. India launched a moon mission in 2008, which was abandoned last year as data communications broke and scientists lost control of the satellite.

India is the fifth largest after the United States, Russia, China and France to begin the commercial market, the launch of the satellite. Since 1994, India's space program has launched a series of satellites manufactured in India. India was also able to launch space flight with nine consecutive victories.
